karaoke nightAs karaoke nights often prove, a hidden singer is somewhere inside all of us. Most of us would admit to singing in the shower or car, or in other situations where no one else is around, but a karaoke night fundraiser can help bring out people's talents for a wider audience.  An emcee of our Karaoke Night will be Larisa Daniele and he donates a karaoke machine for this night. We asking an entry fee from attendees, but offer discount ($10 off) for people who are willing to sing.  Participants can sing solo or in groups as they prefer. To sign up for singing email your name and the name of the song you will sing to Larisa Daniele This email address is being protected from spambots. Karaoke comes from a pair of Japanese words, and first referred to music mixed by recording the band's part first. “Kara” means empty, and “okesutora” means orchestra.  The singer would listen to the recorded music by the orchestra or band and sing his part. Eventually this practice was done intentionally as a form of entertainment, so people could enjoy singing along to their favorite song even after it was produced. The first karaoke machine was designed in Japan, during the 1970's, by a gentleman named Daisuke Inoue. Inoue-san was a well-known drummer, and his friends asked him to provide recordings of his music so they could sing along at home.
